The new CD by the infamous ChesnuTT- had me reaching back to his fantastic 2002 double CD The Headphone Masterpiece- which despite (or perhaps because of) it's recording limitations-deserves a place on every Soul Lovers shelf.....Few if any CD's combine what might be considered as Neo Soul-with real Hip hop values....
New label out of London....according to Word is Bond blog
Orange Tree Records released yesterday their first release "Fresh Fruit Vol.1". Orange Tree is a Boom Bap Hip Hop & Neo-Soul label from the UK. A match made in heaven for me, as these 2 genres are the two I listen the most. Can't wait for more.
released 07 December 2010 all songs written and produced by PJ Morton.. except "Change My Mind" and "Give It To Me" co written and co produced with Warryn "Baby Dubb" Campbell
Now I wasn't going to post this up-mostly because frankly I re post a lot of music from Soundrotation blog (enough already). Then again I've just heard it on Starpoint- on Steve the Ears Jackson's show to be precise. Steve isn't slow when it comes to trawling, covering many of the same bases as myself. Oddly enough though for a non follower of this Blog I see odd echoes of it in his show, this is of course co incidence-frankly I'm not that influential. Indeed when it gets right down to it-I haven't anything like the knowledge of Steve, or many, if not all of the DJ's on Starpoint. I've had a few conversations of late on the vexed topic of "who found what"-or more importantly "who gets credit for finding...." and it all breaks down to being rather unimportant. I know -or have some idea about just how difficult it can be presenting a collection of music either in a mix or on the radio. It's why I don't bother.....
From the highly anticipated full length CD from the dynamic duo. Featuring a number of guests from the world of hipper than hop. Stand out tracks feature vocals from Oliver Day Soul- but here is one track that reaches beyond the genre into what might be considered a Paul Goldsmith "not quite on the play list..."
A song written by Michelle Escoffery in memory of her wonderful Sister Sandra Escoffery who is sadly no longer with us. credits released 06 September 2010 Michelle Escoffery - Vocals & Lyrics Colin Emmanuel - All Keyboards, Drum Programming and Production tags tags: jazz soul London
A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to give 3 people a Samsung tablet and have them execute an experiment with it. Having seen what Oh No’s capable of with an iPad, I immediately thought of putting my man I.N.T. (La Melodia) to work on a beat. Together with Nilez, we then picked Mar to lay some of his smooth vocals over this banger. I may be biased but I gotta say the guys outdid themselves on this one.
Seems like Raheem DeVaughn has been checking out Mar and deciding to do his own Variation (not as good either)However this track from the same FREE mixtape is rather special
The Ariya Astrobeat Arkestra formed in late 2007 when members of the Kidkanevil live show and First Word stalwarts Homecut began a series of late night afrobeat sessions at Leeds’ Sela Bar. It was out of these jam sessions that The Ariya Astrobeat Arkestra was born, combining their love of afrobeat with their appreciation of the space jazz pioneers of the 70’s and the free jazz trailblazers of the 60’s, coupled with a hefty nod towards James Brown. Individually they have been lucky enough to Perform with the likes of Yarah Bravo, Gilad Atzmon, Jehst, The New Mastersounds, The Haggis horns, Kidkanevil, Homecut, Kissey Asplund and Ty, to name a few
From the new CD.....not exactly my cup of brew but I do quite like this-you'd of thought more might of picked up on it???
First heard about this through uber blog Blind I (who have a track based version for free download). This is a neat if curtailed compilation of the rare and collaborated stuff. Vikter is a real fave of mine. Featuring on the mix is a short version of this magnificent track from 2002 (where he guests with Jazzanova)...
The other day I downloaded a Rar file titled "Glen Lewis back for more unreleased 2009".... Somehow this didn't add up and a bit of searching the net led me to discover that this was from 2003 and an unreleased follow up to his 1st CD which features the ALL TIME classic "Don't you Forget it". That early work has some very clear influences (and it's non the worst for that). Take for example the track posted below......
Taken from the Soulbounce Blog (which I'm hoping gets the 2010 Soul Train award) - a great example of what they do....choose good music to listen too. This is from Dutch resident Ntjam Rosie latest release
First released in January 2010 and originally a free download- It's nice to see this resurface on Blind I.....
From the Pin Board Blog- a little bit of heaven from Peter Hadar which sits nicely with the rest of the EP selections first made available in October and still a free download....
You know Like the Hilton for example, Don't you have a media streaming radio show to fill up (and all that shit) ? - What !!!! No takers....? Blimey you people are hard to please....
If this was pirate radio station Soul Nation back in 1993 this would be a killer...alas it's 2010.... Still it appears some are still playing catch up and so I post it here
Her name is hurtt- that's two tt's how cool is that!
There was a time when people wrote songs on paper- or piano scrolls. These days a song is done as a demo track and sometimes these test recordings are leaked on the net. Back in the old days say 2005-8 when doing an R&B Demo you booked One Chance to provide the vocal. Or if you could sing you did the track itself (see http://altmodsoul.blogspot.com/2010/10/demo-of-day-more-recent.html).
It's always a bit strange to hear a song that frankly will never be good enough- passed around....
Here is Charlie Wilson
Here is J Holiday
Proof that shining a turd-is a tough act-even if like me you love the singing
THANK YOU TO ALL THAT HAVE VISITED MY SITE. AND OF COURSE A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THAT HAVE DONATED MUSIC, IT IS VERY APPRECIATED. WITH THE RE-FORMING AT 'RAPIDSHARE' I HAVE LOST A TON OF POINTS THAT SHOULD/COULD HAVE BEEN TURNED INTO RAPIDS, DUE TO TIME DIFFERENCES AND ALL IT HASN'T TURNED OUT THAT WAY. SO ON OR ABOUT DECEMBER 3, 2010 I WILL NO LONGER KEEP A PREMINUM ACCT. SO IF THERE ARE FILES THAT YOU HAVE WANTED TO DOWNLOAD AND HAVEN'T, I WOULD BE SURE TO GET THEM. THE FILES [AS RAPIDSHARE STATES] WIL;L STILL BE ACTIVE UNTILL THE 60 DAYS OF NON-DOWNLOADING HAS KICKED IN AND THE FILE IS DELETED.AT THAT TIME I MAY OR MAY NOT REUP IT. AS ANOTHER FRIEND'S SITE IS THINKING ABOUT POSTING SPECIAL, ETC, TYPE RELEASE FOR 48 HRS. ONLY, THIS MAY ALSO BE A GOOD THINK. WE'LL SEE. BUT I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW WHAT MAY/ OR MAY NOT HAPPEN TO 'RS' FILES. YOU CAN USUALLY TELL THEM BECAUSE I USE EITHER THE RS LINK, TINYURL, OR LIX.
THE 1ST ONES TO GO WILL PROABABLY THE VIDEOS.
Now I'm not a huge fan of this Blog-it's very much on the fringes of what I listen too (I'd class it along with the Music Library type blogs I'm a follower of). It's not really Soul Music -and not really Jazz in the style of Modern Soul-aka Mark Addy.
Still all that said it's a passionate place -plus the Blog has lots of feedback and rare (? well obscure) music for people to sample. For me well I could go crazy and download everything-spend a bit of time (not much) digesting my downloads then throwing up the odd track on here.
If this is any indication of what Late Nights & Early Mornings will spawn into, the stock in box springs for beds is almost certain to skyrocket in 2011. This is some real grown folks type music right here. Leaving her vindictive feelings behind, Marsha focuses her attention to the bedroom and the fantasies that can fulfilled with the proper theme music. Contrary to what the title may allude, Miss Ambrosius does not have a sextape. She does, in fact, have a sextape however. This near 18-minute song is actually broken down into four separate erogenous zones. Each have a different feel with a different tone – narrated with the timeless lullabies of Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and The Isley Brothers – but with the same goal. Play this around your ol’ lady the next time the mood is right. She’ll appreciate the moment. One more thing though. Don’t be a geek and ask for the tracks to be split either. If you’re doing what you’re supposed to be doing, the last thing on your mind should be attempting to skip to the next track.
I can't really top that except to ask you to listen
It's odd how sometimes it just comes together. From writing about Soulmate I download something by Sina Blogger Supreme Collid. A CD by O'Neal from 2004. It is obscure and (least to me) and yet fits in nicely with Moovmnt Soul-open space and electronics which bleed, on top of an a plaintive vocal....
The sort of stuff that puts me in mind of Mark M's Soul Sermon mixes. It's gutsy Soul music, heartfelt and carrying along something sonorous. Don't forget to view my shared items for the links to Soul Sermon...
Talented Dutch producer Dukehugh, hailing from Groningen, seems to amaze us time and time again. This time with the “St. Louis To Madrid” remix EP he dropped yesterday on his Bandcamp. You remember Olivier DaySoul‘s “Mr Saint Louis” EP produced by Odissee right? Well Hugo manages to conjure up four remixes each with a totally different take. This thing is all over the place and goes from Broken to Dub and from Future Soul to Bossatronic. Please leave a nice comment if you enjoy this free download…I know you will!
Seems like I'm posting a lot of Dutch stuff in the last week or so
From Word is Bond Blog A journey through the mind of Myk Dyaleks (1/3 of Brokn.Englsh). Walk with him on this sonic voyage, where he paints an image moving forward into his next musical transition. Melodic and soulful...he gives you a quick taste of what's to come. Strap in, and enjoy
Have to admit to quite liking Brok'n'English- "trying" from a few years ago is a bit of a classic round our house. This new mixtape from MYK (another free legal download)-has it's best moment here (IMHO)
Bandcamp (in this instance) delivers the sort of free Legal Download product that even the most conservative Modern Soul Fan could be listening to -(it's a bit cheesy yet ticks some of the boxes)- expect to hear this on some streaming Radio Show soon enough...
