The new CD by the infamous ChesnuTT- had me reaching back to his fantastic 2002 double CD The Headphone Masterpiece- which despite (or perhaps because of) it's recording limitations-deserves a place on every Soul Lovers shelf.....Few if any CD's combine what might be considered as Neo Soul-with real Hip hop values....
New label out of London....according to Word is Bond blog
Orange Tree Records released yesterday their first release "Fresh Fruit Vol.1". Orange Tree is a Boom Bap Hip Hop & Neo-Soul label from the UK. A match made in heaven for me, as these 2 genres are the two I listen the most. Can't wait for more.
released 07 December 2010 all songs written and produced by PJ Morton.. except "Change My Mind" and "Give It To Me" co written and co produced with Warryn "Baby Dubb" Campbell
Now I wasn't going to post this up-mostly because frankly I re post a lot of music from Soundrotation blog (enough already). Then again I've just heard it on Starpoint- on Steve the Ears Jackson's show to be precise. Steve isn't slow when it comes to trawling, covering many of the same bases as myself. Oddly enough though for a non follower of this Blog I see odd echoes of it in his show, this is of course co incidence-frankly I'm not that influential. Indeed when it gets right down to it-I haven't anything like the knowledge of Steve, or many, if not all of the DJ's on Starpoint. I've had a few conversations of late on the vexed topic of "who found what"-or more importantly "who gets credit for finding...." and it all breaks down to being rather unimportant. I know -or have some idea about just how difficult it can be presenting a collection of music either in a mix or on the radio. It's why I don't bother.....
From the highly anticipated full length CD from the dynamic duo. Featuring a number of guests from the world of hipper than hop. Stand out tracks feature vocals from Oliver Day Soul- but here is one track that reaches beyond the genre into what might be considered a Paul Goldsmith "not quite on the play list..."

A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to give 3 people a Samsung tablet and have them execute an experiment with it. Having seen what Oh No’s capable of with an iPad, I immediately thought of putting my man I.N.T. (La Melodia) to work on a beat. Together with Nilez, we then picked Mar to lay some of his smooth vocals over this banger. I may be biased but I gotta say the guys outdid themselves on this one.
