Not to be confused with St Helen's Glass (a pun for those from the North West of England)..(sic)
Preston's latest CD seems to be a tribute to "Last of the Summer Wine"- featuring a number of "old dog" guest vocalists... (just how old is Lenny W ? for example).
Speaking as an Oldie myself I'm not completely against that-and PG does have the knack of producing high quality music.
On this track the young upstart (by comparison) J Britt- lends his vocal...
Sometimes Serendipity takes hold.....you download something and it sets wheels in motion. Probably one of my all time favourite Gospel tracks though I didn't know who it was by. I'd always loved it from the time I recorded Dean Johnson playing it on Richard Searling's show back in 1997. The recording I had was always good enough for me somehow-I never had the desire to chase it down and find out who it was by. I'm not like that-those tapes stand alone. I love music but I'm not an anorak-sure I've picked up some facts along the way but the older I get the more I'm reminded about how little I know. I'd of never guessed that these vocalists looked so pale-for example. I'd forgotten all about this track of course in recent years, till now-and when I opened up a Rar file and instantly knew it was the one. I love those words........even back then they had a personal resonance.
Another Day another obscure Smooth Jazz track (which is becoming a main stay of this blog) this one from 1995 by Randy Seale (a name that conjures up embarrassment at Sea World)......
Lovely mellow tune from UK producer, label exec, radio dj Miss Laidlaw who's also the founder of Female BeatMakers.com. It's the 1st but hopefully not the last collaboration between her & UK singer Xei who also is a producer. Definitely looking forward to hearing more from both of them
Superior stuff from K Michelle-best guess is that it's old-ish (then again is does have a "cheat with a Basketball player" reference ?) But one thing for sure it's certainly got some soul chops
F.A.M.E.’s Max Kane returns with another one of his signature 4OneFunk’ed out remixes this time around with legendary Al Green & John Legend’s Stay With Me
So I was watching House the other year or so...The show ended with our drug addled hero-full of regret unable to change....(yadda yadda)-In the background was this music playing-which had a sorrow attached to it that went beyond the corny script. Indeed it spoke about the human condition in a bluesy direct manner. So as ever I searched for it on the internet and found it. Turns out it was by some bloke called Solomon Burke.................
Another Winning compilation series from Blind I-and a track from 2007 -I first heard posted on EMS by Bessy-owner ofhttp://theurbanhangout.blogspot.com/
Interesting compilation CD from 1996...and essential for any decent Manc. Some classics re Soul Nation plays and a couple unknown to me -or I've forgotten about - namely track 12- a track if ever there was for Freestylin...
Got to adore the drop outs on this track thanks (maybe ?) to this encode-I could easily correct them-but somehow that seems more wrong than providing a link to the CD itself.....Mark Jordan check your drop box .....
: )

So thanks to a post by liferasta regarding a demo by En to End from 1992 and featured on Funk Classic Master 2 Blog- I ended up downloading it and removing the very very poor rap resulting in this....
Recently sentenced Lil Wayne (yet another firearms charge) song (which may be putting it a bit strongly) given a complete work over by the smooth vocal tones of Mar.
While nothing can be done about those nasty words the voice of Mar makes it better....
words from http://soundrotation.blogspot.com/2010/10/lost-remnants-of-tone-trezure.html
Tone Trezure is a force to be reckoned with, and soon the world will know it. From writing, producing & collaborating with some of the best in the hiphop & soul game over & underground including Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, Pharoahe Monch, Xzibit, Little Brother, Erykah Badu & Bilal (whom vocally she's constantly compared to) she's hard at work on new material for her HIGHLY ANTICIPATED debut album. In the process she released an EP back in the summer & now these 7 songs from her production vault.
Bizzaro stuff...... sort of streetsoul -ish with the drums. Unlike anything else on the CD- complete with semi dodgy singing-sometimes I think these artists sit back and think "lets make one for John to Post on his blog"
In addition to being conceptually refreshing, the album is just as musically intriguing as producers Vaughan T, 14kt, Nick Speed (G- unit), ZO!, and Forekast sample and “flip” classic new jack swing records in a way that keeps listeners engaged.
